Exciting Times

Debbie Grace

Things are really starting to progress now. We've got some Snapchat glasses already and I am certainly enjoying exploring these! As well as being project manager for this particular project I am a teacher educator and I can see lots of benefits of using the glasses with our trainee teachers. It would be interesting to use them in observations, but I think the real value in using these would be in the post observation discussion. We could capture some really reflective, insightful comments...

It also makes me think a lot about the teachers I work with and the potential for using the Snapchat spectacles in different subject areas with their students. It's perhaps easier to see the potential in more vocational subjects, such as hair and beauty or plumbing, than it is with more academic subjects, such as maths. But I can also envisage a use for them to help students solve maths problems for example. They could help to pinpoint areas where students have perhaps made errors - and by recording their thoughts they could even start to look for and recognise their own errors. Hmmm, there is definitely potential here. I know Sam has some great ideas for using the glasses on her professional courses so I can't wait to see how she gets on.

I know Mo is enjoying experimenting with his Vuzix glasses and I'm looking forward to seeing how his learners are using them after half-term.

And as for the Hololens! Wow! This really is cutting edge technology and I can't wait to see how Tom's learners react to using it.
